THE IT GUY
Hey Todd, When I turn on my computer, it starts up and is beeping continually. It wont even pass the start up page. In a way, its kind of like a siren. Its normal for the beep to happen on start up, it means all of your hardwares comunicating with the Bios properly but it shouldnt sound like a siren. If it wont let you start up the computer, you might want to open up your case and see if the RAM is installed properly. Hey Todd, Random question about the time and clock on computers. If you power it off, how does it really know the time? Theres chips and wirtings already embedded in the mother board called the BIOS. Basic input, output system. Its where all peripheral commands communicate within the mother board, when its powered off theres a part in the BIOS that stores the information and continues it. If you literally pull the plug out, then you've completely powered down your computer so it wont keep track of the time. Hey Todd, Whats it called when your computer goes through that power on test and whats the wiring in the motherboard that communicates the part from one to the other? POST. Power on self test. When that happens, it communicates the messsages through all of the parts known as the Power Good Wire. I like to think of it as the side walk/ road/ trail/ in the motherboard city from a birds eye view.
